The energy audit certification programs are gaining higher importance day by day. With the global temperature rising slowly but steadily, energy audit training programs are a must for imparting the expertise to people for providing solutions to cut this. While some energy auditor training courses require the candidates to be undergraduate engineers, other energy auditor certification programs are open for normal graduates. There are even energy audit training courses which say that the candidate should have undergone an undergraduate course and also be trained in business management. After the successful completion of an energy audit certification course, the auditor has to work as an assistant to another established auditor and gain experience. Energy auditor training institutes like the Building Performance Institute conducts both written and field exam for the candidates. 70 percent of marks are mandatory in the written exam for getting energy auditor certification. BPI offers one week of online course before conducting the exams. Some of the tests that an energy auditor does are the blower door tests, testing of air quality, carbon monoxide detection, airflow testing etc. Another point to be noted is that, re-certification is necessary every three years. This is done by taking the tests after every three years.
